Over time, you may notice that your PC is cluttered and messy. A cluttered computer is not only difficult to navigate but can greatly impact the performance and productivity of a person. This could later impact the computer’s performance or malfunction because there isn’t enough room for the operating system to run. Offload Unused Apps

Get rid of any programs that you don’t use. If you have multiple programs installed and barely used them, it’s best to uninstall them. Make sure you don’t uninstall essential programs. If you aren’t sure what a program does, try looking it up online to see if it’s necessary for your computer.

Delete Old Files

This is one of the simplest and easiest ways to declutter your computer. Most of us hoard files that we no longer need. It could be a school presentation you did or a project done months ago. These files may be small but pile up over time and clog up your computer. Also, take a look at your downloads folder. You probably have tons of downloaded items that haven’t been used in a long time. Delete and remove any duplicate files you won’t need again after you are done with them, or store them in an external hard drive.

Create Folders To Organize

After purging through unwanted items in your computer, we are left with all sorts of items to sort. Organize your files more efficiently. Put documents into folders based on their subject. Every single file should have an organized place on your computer. This will make your computer look much cleaner and makes it easier to find files.

Clean Up Your Hard Drive

Clean up your hard drive. By doing so, you can delete temporary internet files, system error logs and other files that can be safely removed from your computer.

Scan For Malware And Viruses

Junk files, cookies and cache may hinder the performance of your computer. Use antivirus software to run scans on your computer to detect any viruses and threats to your computer.

Empty The Recycle Bin

The recycle bin may hold several gigabytes of material not being used – duh, it’s in the bin anyway. Emptying the recycle bin will free hard drive space and may boost your computer speed.
